The Wienburgpark or also called Nordpark is located in Münster's north. Its name comes from the House Wienburg, which is located to the north of it.

The park has a diverse landscape. Hedges and forest edges provide a habitat for plants and animals that otherwise live only in the forest. Amphibians and insects can find a home in the wetlands. In addition, there are numerous flower meadows on the grounds.

There are numerous leisure opportunities for visitors in the Wienburg Park. Several paths have been laid out for biking and inline skating as well as for hiking, leading you to beautiful places. But you don't have to use these paths, because the park is not a nature reserve. So you can also explore it off the routes. If you have dogs, they can run free everywhere in the park outside the sports and play areas.

In the southern part of Wienburg Park, there is a large playground for children with large play equipment such as a zip line and a hut. The facility is located on an artificial hill that you and your children can use as a slope for sledding in the winter. In addition, a children's camp is held annually in the summer with offerings such as bounce houses, a climbing tower, and streetball and beach volleyball courts in the north of the park.

The western area of the park is designed as a sports and recreation area for teenagers and young adults. There are courts for beach volleyball and basketball, several skating facilities, and other areas for fun sports.

Plans for a large recreational park in Münster existed as early as the 1960s. The first one envisaged a meadow, play and sports area with a leisure pool and an allotment garden. However, it was not realized, nor were two planning processes in the 1970s. Their planners wanted to build recreational facilities and housing respectively a park with a lake and an outdoor swimming pool with sports facilities on today's park area. The draft plan for today's park from 1986 was accepted by the city, although parts of the city population rejected it as a waste of money.
